Smile My boat has been fixed and I am now very happy.

My boat was returned and it does run a fair amount better. Despite some issues i have had with the dealer the boat was well worth the hassle. Both the dealer and Triumph (TRIUMPH MOST IMPORTANTLY) stood behind the product and did whatever it took to make the boat right. Having said that my dealer and I seemed to have some issues with miscommunication. Tim from Foley's Marine (their service manager) was excellent as was Joe Beerman from TRIUMPH customer service though. Anyone can sell a boat but it takes good people to back those boats. Having said that I was frazzled because the boat wasn't right from the word go but triumph resurfaced the one side of the hull and fixed the problem. I will say those issues with the boat are gone now and I am very happy. I appreciate the above people taking the time to educate me what was done with the boat.

Good as new

Well. I finally got to get out for the weekend after getting my boat back. Planing out is 100% better than before they did the work on the hull. Still have to stay above 15-20 mph to keep it on plane but it is a major improvement from when I first bought it.

I also got my hydrofoil and am hoping to get it installed this week. Hopefully, this will improve it even more.

Trim Tabs

I installed Smart Tabs on my 15....they're adjustable and worked like a charm. Also moved my battery up under the console. My prop cavitates on sharp turns, but not as bad as before.

Angry same problem here

Last year I purchased a new 2004 150 cool w/ a 50h.p. suzuki. it also has a bit of a cavatation problem at about 1/2 throtle I installed a foil to tried and resolve the both problems. it looks to me like the prop needs to be further in the water? its on its lowest setting at the motor mount. hope this problem get resolved.

Cavitation? Do you mean ventilation? Ventilation is when the prop is venting air and the rpm jumps and speed dies. Is the motor trimmed all the way down past the point where it makes initial contact with the tilt/trim piston rods? Is the motor shaft long enough? Have you contacted the dealer?

...Let us know

As long as you are not carrying a lot of "unknown" extra weight, that prop has too much pitch. You are about 2500 RPM too low from your target WOT RPM range. I would "start" here to get a rough idea of the correct pitch to use

In my other thread I complained about inability to bring my 150DC/ 50 HP Yamaha up to plane. I called a dealer for an advice. The recomendation was - trim all the way down, then adjust for performance. What a difference it made! No raising bow up 45 degrees. 2000-2500 RPM, slight raise of the bow, and on plane at 25 mph.

I have returned it to the dealer and he has made an appt. w/ the factory to have small trim tabs added to the hull. Apparantly, this is a known problem and they do have a way to fix it. I've asked about changing props or adding the hydrofoil and they said it would help but wouldn't fix the problem. It is headed for the factory in NC on the 12th. I'll give you an update when I get it back.

Happy Boating!!!
I have a 2007 150-cc with the 40 Hp Yamaha 4 stroke. It takes full power over 5000 rpm to get up on plan slowly but once there i can cruise along nicely at 4200 rpm on plan at 22 MPH indicated on the odometer with 550lbs of people dogs and gear on board. I almost opted for a larger engine when I bought the boat but didn't want a gas hog to feed. The 40 averages about 1.5 GPH out fooling around and averages about 2 GPH if I haul *** if you can call 25MPH that. Also it is very easy to launch, retrieve and tow behind a 2001 Pontiac Montana. And fits nicely in my garage. I couldn't find a better boat to fit my needs. We did get caught in a violent thunderstorm the last time out and had to make an emergency docking behind a vacant house for sale at there dock. The bilge pump kicked right in during the storm and keep it drained. The passengers got soaked. The Bimini top is not real protective in a thunderstorm. I almost bought a little C-Dory for protection in just such a case but didn't see any for sale here in Virginia so I got the Triumph, a great little boat.
