I have a 17CC with a 60 hp 4 stroke Yamaha. I pull my son on a tube and wake boarding with his surfboard. The 60hp works fine with that. I would go with the 75hp 4 stroke if I did a lot of towing and skiing. I love my 4 stroke and I would stay with one even if I moved up to a 75hp for towing. It is so quite that I catch myself looking at the pee hole to see if it's running.

Just got back from inspecting a 17cc at a dealer that was closed but the boat was in front of the store open to look at. It was done up with all the options...so I get home and look at the Triumph site because the price on the boat wa$17,700!!! I can't believe the price Triumph asks for some options, especially $455 for the rear seats!!There isn't probably $25 worth of stainless steel rail and 2 small cushions there!!$355 for a small swim platform that couldn't be $30 worth of materials. Is this what the factory thinks pof potential customers!!! It's almost like they are gouging like EXXON and the oil companies. Those are ridiculous prices for options!

Don't confuse Nationwide MSRP listings for what you can "get" one in your local area... I have heard of more than one boat owner who drove all the way from California to Florida and towed the boat all the way back and still saved money.

So figure out how you want it equipped, shop around for the best price, send E-mails and place calls for the best price based upon what you want and let the different dealers compete (Welcome to Capitalism) for your business

Oh and if you think that EXXON is getting rich of off fuel, look up how much the Federal Government has made on the same gallon of gas for doing nothing, trust me... The Feds are making killer profits and much more than EXXON, but few are head hunting the Feds over the recent increases.

Let us know how you make out
Dave

Welcome to the world of boating. After you get passed the initial purchase, then your first season will cost you big at West Marine and the like. Buy it and enjoy! I eventually got over paying $50 to Honda for a flush fitting (that should have came with the motor!), $110 for a trailer spare tire that should be standard, $50 extra trailer hub for safety, $75 for anchor line and on and on and on. Not to mention all that big water tackle you'll need. You'll get nickle and dimed to death long after you get home with that new boat - I'd do it again for sure.

I have an 80hp Yamaha 4-stroke on mine and it pulls skiers well, even my buddy who weighs in around 225.

Great boat. Have had for 3 seasons now and no problems.

Cincinnatti is right on the money. After the initial price you will find that your needs(wants) will be endless. None of them are cheap where boats are concerned- it's all a-la-carte. Best bet is to shop around for a leftover. Often they are not much above dealer cost and the dealer will throw in an option or two just to make room for new stock. I picked up my '03 190 Bay w/t-top for $18,000. The dealer threw in the bow fishing chair, and added on a swim platform in order to make the sale. But, from what I understand, they won't always make an engine switch to make a sale because its more involved than just lifting one engine off and dropping another one on.

Lazy Loafer has the right idea. I bought my 170cc as overstock from the the dealer. Got the swim platform, bimini, fish finder, and Coast Guard saftey kit for a song and a dance. Dealer would not switch motors. Just have to live w/ the Johnson 50hp. It gets me where I need to go. Any more than three adults on the boat, I think I would have problems. You can really only fish two adults comfortably anyway. Hope the advice helps.
Good Luck!

Have a 2004 170 CC. Started with a 2 s 75 Merc. Got tired of the 2 s loading up all the time and stopping while idling, etc.. Traded the 2 s 75 Merc in for a 4 s 75 Merc. . I pull skiers,,,fish,,, etc.....performance is better with the 4 s than with the 2 s...and the fuel economy is about 1 1/2 gal to 2 gal per hour less. Have never regretted owning a Triumph..regretted the 2 s. I should have gone originally with the 4 s...much better engine all the way around..and quiet! A happy 170 cc Triumph owner w/ 4 s 75 Merc !

Thumbs up new 170

I took my sea trial and bought the boat. It is so responsive that I felt like I was going to thrown from the boat. The guys at Modern treated me great and I would recommend them to anyone who asks in my area . I asked them if I could have the one that was still covered up and they had no problem with any of my needs.I'll keep you all updated on my new purchase.
