Yes Brian,
You can have one made to work, but be careful about the flexing you can get on the floor of these hulls. Here is a past (though not about a 170 per say) post that my good friend John from Heartland was saying about such flex T-Top install So I would be mindful of such when you have one made since most shops have not seen a Triumph in the past, thus do not realize it's special qualities and needs... I also had a custom Bimini top made the fits "inside" the gunnel's of my 190 (see my photos in the 190 mods section) so that when installed on the boat (summer time only), it does not get in the way and maybe you could have something designed to do the same for your 170 and save a few bucks? T-Tops though can get in the way when fishing and can also prevent you from getting under certian bridges back up in some of those creeks that are just full of big Redfish Hope this helps? Dave

Another thing to consider with the smaller boats is the effect the T-Top will have on the boat in high winds. My 170cc shows severe performance issues even with the bimini top when the winds are going. When things get like that, it is nice to be able to stow the top.....no such luxury with a T-top.

Hello Brian, IMHO, the T-Top would be to cumbersome on a small boat, Most of the mounting would have to be on the console that would encroach on the walk around C/C, Or if it was mounted on the top of the gunwhales it probably would cause unfavorable conditions when the wind picked up,like a parachute effect. The center console on the 17 is not very supportive in itself anyway, it flexes and "works" just like the hull, I would assume a top notch marine fabricator could come up with a configuration that would work, but the cost for that kind of custom stuff you could have bought the 195 with it already there, Not trying to discourage your effort, just think of the minimal shade you would have anyway, smaller boat = smaller sq. ft. T-Top. I hope this helps a little.........Dan

The Removable Top I Had On My 186 Logic Would Work On A 170. Look Under My Album For The 186 Mods. Or Under The 186/190 Photo Section
