Livewell seat cover problem
I am already starting to see the fabric seperate near the connector of the seat cover on the livewell. It is starting to rip just above the hole the fastener goes thru. I didn't really like the design anyway because it is time consuming to have to unsnap both to get bait out. I had been unsnapping one and sliding the seat over to get bait. But the fabric shouldn't rip, should it? Anyone else experiencing this? A better design would have the seat connected to the front side of the livewelland lift up towards the bow. Wondereing if anyone has a solution or better idea. I've only used the boat 3 times now.

I usually just leave the cushion home. I was thinking about putting some sort of hinge on the bait well cover, it seems like it is always getting in the way. As far as water slop, other than not filling it up all the way I haven't figured anything else out. I'm just glad I don't sit there and get a wet hiney, like the Mrs. always does.

I also leave theh seat cushion off. Most states require a throwable flotation device and mine is a square cushion with straps. I use mine as a cushion for that seat. I put the fishing rods through the straps and into the holders and it does not blow off while under way even if I am alone.
To your basic question, no it should not be ripping. Complain to your dealer if if its new enough. |

warranty issue
Do you think if the straps completely rip where I can't use them it would fall under any kind of warranty where triumph would just send me a new seat cushion? It is after all a bad design on their part. It hasn't got bad enough yet but with alot of use I could see it ripping completely. One shouldn't have to take it completely off it it was designed properly.

I would first call my dealer. If you can't get resolution there, call Triumph directly. The worst case is they tell you it's not under warranty. If that happens, raise a little fuss and let them know you're not happy. You never know. Good luck.

Hello Again Steve, I have the 170cc also, Our cushion is intact thus far, but I must admit the straps on the 4 corners that hold the snaps are definately starting to stretch, Obviously Triumph is aware of this and changed the connections to a slide track in lieu of the snaps in the 06 model, The same is true with the 2 rear cushions,They will unsnap and blow out of the boat if not careful, and you wouldn't know it until you looked behind you while underway. For the most part we snap ours on until we reach our spot, unsnap and use it more as a throw pillow until we get back to the dock.We don't use the rears at all unless just cruising about with the kids and friends,They are not designed for high speed stuff for sure.I would assume if it's reasonably new it would be a warranty issue. Ask Dick at Merrit Marine, He's is honest and very fair on warranty issues. That idea with the PFD, using the rods to go thru the handles is very ingenious, and that way you can leave the good one at home for pleasure boating and still maintain a comfort level on the box..Dan
