Transom warranty

I bought an 04 170 CC in March with a 60 horse 2 stroke Yamaha on it. Although I like the fuel economy of the 60 horse I would really like to repower with a 2 stroke 90 horse. Dealer told me that if I did it would invalidate my the warranty on the transom. I have done my research and found that the 90 horse is within the weight limit of the transom. So the question is will it invalidate the warranty?

You bet it will impact your warranty! Putting a 90 on will also get you in trouble with your Wildlife guy's since the rating plate says 75hp Max.

Thanks for the reply. I knid of figured that anyway. How about a small 5 horse kicker, will that make any difference?

The transom was not designed to support a kicker. I don't know of anyone trying it. I'll check with the factory and get the "official" answer.
