Maybe new owner? if i find the right deal

Hi i am new on this forum...been lurking around lately and getting info on the 170cc. Im from CT and see that there are a few memebers from CT also. All the info has been pretty good...but i am wondering why some dealership charge more for the same boat new? same add ons and all. i am trying to find a good deal and don't mind driving to get it. i am only shopping for 170cc new or used if the deal is good i'll buy it. is this the best time to buy a boat? seems like no one is budging from ther prices...Help me get a 170cc..sell me yours if your not to far away.....

Tumor, I wish you good luck on your search.

Boat dealers are sometime like car dealers. Some have lower overhead than others, some have a high volume business so can make less per boat sold, and some have a goal of making the most that they can from every sale.

The same is true when it comes to service. Some dealers know what they are doing and some do not have a clue.

I can not fault any dealer for their business practice. The dealership is theirs and they have the right to run it the way they want to. It is the American way.

Read what others have to say about their dealer and contact the ones you want to.

The plastic boats are great.

Tumor,
I did see a web site in my price searches for Stafford marine in northern Virginia. They seemed to have prices somewhat similar to my local dealer here in Florida. The 170cc 2006 i'm about to puchase is a litte under 16k before tax. Here are the options I put on it so maybe you can compare; bimini, 75hp e-tec, swim platform, bow cushion, rear seat cushions w/backs.
Good luck in your search.

warrenM that a little bit far.

I just stopped by the local ct boat show and they have a 2006 170cc w/ a mercury 60hp 4 stroke w/bimini bow rail back seat rails going for 17k. but that price includes dealer prep and all only thing not included is tax so i am looking at about high 18's for total price...i might go with that if i can't find a fairly close enough triumph for me.

JMHO here that if you could save several thousand dollars the drive would be well worth it.

Tumor,

Check with Carl Merritt of Merritt Marine in Hillsborough, NC at (919) 732-7377. I was in his showroom today and he has two 2006 170CC's with some options in the $14,000 - $15,000 price range.

Do a websearch for boat shows and visit some. There can be some deals there as this is the slow time of the year for boat sales.
