170 CC - - sell by owner or trade it in

Hi guys,
I'm brand spanking new to this site and have looked through a number of threads and found them very helpful. I have a bit of a dilemna at present. I own a 2004, 170 CC Triumph (White/blk, Yamaha 60hp 4-stroke in great condition) and the family's pushing me to get a bigger boat. I've been offered $8000 as a trade in by one dealer so far. After researching the web it seems my boat might be worth more.
Any thoughts or suggestions as to the value of my boat w/trailer and selling itt by myself vs. trading it in would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for you help.

Wishiwerfishin,
This may help you to get an Idea of the value of your boat.

Just select the boat type and the zip code, add any extras you have on the boat (GPS,Radio's,etc.) and submit.

Hey guys,

I just wanted to chime in as a dealer who takes trades frequently! It is always better to sell your boat on your own. Reason being, your trade is most often where our profit comes from. It's only fair, we in the business need to make money to stay in business. Also, NADA values aren't frequently used by dealers, there are several other trade in systems that we use. Just a little food for thought, good luck and let me know if there is anything that I can do to help!

thanks,

Sam

You can also try BUC which is another evaluation system similar to NADA. You can get a free "quote" if you click on BUC Value and register, or for a more accurate quote you would have to subscribe (pay for) BUC ValuePro.

You can find them at:
http://www.buc.com/index.cfm

Good Luck
