170CC Leaning Post
Have any of you replaced the 170CC seat with a leaning post? I always stand when driving mine, and have rigged up a couple of 1x4s so I can lean against the seat back. But a cool leaning post would be, uh, cooler.
I searched a couple of years ago, but couldn't find any aftermarket leaning post that was both narrow enough to make sense in this boat and priced within a reasonable range. I also noticed at the Triumph web site, that the seat they're using on the current 170CC seems to be sleeker that the one I have. Do any of you know who makes the new seat for Triumph? Thanks. |

Todd Products makes a single leaning post that if nothing else, would give you some ideas on how to have one made
http://www.toddusa.com/productdetails.aspx?cid=5 and it is about halfway down on that page...

Check with your local Triumph dealer. I was at mine last week looking at the new models of Triumphs, He said the leaning post could be ordered and installed. Actually he said the install could be done by yourself. I personally would not try it, but that's only because I was born without a mechanical gene, but I'm sure someone like Astrodiver could have it knocked out in about an hour. according to the dealer the only thing to be careful of is the gas tank under the floor when installing, but was going to give me all the measurement so as to avoid that. Dick at Merrit could probably confirm weather or not if it is at all possible or if my dealer is full of crap.

you can also look in the picture section. There is a guy, user name "roman" he made an insert out of PVC. Not as pretty or sleek as the new one they have for the 170's, but it's functional and gives you the option of having a seat if you want it.

I did it. My dealer had a leaning post out of a Triumph 190. Someone did not want it. I asked him to put it in mine. Hey, it worked great. Measures just right. My first thought was, "Why in the world did Triumph not put this in the Center Consoles?" I do not have any pictures yet. The dealer had to order the cooler but the leaning post is a winner. Maybe this weekend I will drag it outside and shoot a picture without the cooler. Blessings. |

Check these out at Spacemaker Fiberglass Products. Start at 22" wide and also includes tubular models. Kind of pricey, but they do some nice custom work.

I got the cooler put in this weekend. My dealer, Hooked on the Bay in Near East, MD, did a great job for me. I could not be happier with this leaning post. It is indeed a Triumph and a quality leaning post at that. You can check out the pictures. To me it looks good as well as being very practical. I posted the pictures under 170 CC/DC modifications. Blessings, armychap |
