New owner 170 fish

Been looking for a triumph for a little while, and finally purchased a nice 2004 170 Fish (used), with a 50 hp Honda. This site has a lot of useful information on it, and a read many posts prior to my purchase.

I had a question on the drain plugs. I pulled the 2 plastic drain plugs, and the plastic plugs on the plastic hull seemed tight. When I reinstall, do I put any tupe of lubrication on these. Also should I replace the plugs periodically and/or gaskets. I looked through the owners / operators manual and could see nothing on this.

I am still learning about the roplene hulls so I will most likely have more questions as I learn about the boat, but I am looking forward to many years of Triumph enjoyment.

Burt,
Congratulations on your 170. My family has totally enjoyed our 170, it will be a year in April. I'm also still learning, you have come to the right place. Where do you fish out of?

Burt,
First off, Congratulations on the "new" boat. You're going to love it. As for the drain plugs, just make sure the drain holes are clean (no sand or grit) and you should be fine. You can use a little Vasiline on them to make them easier to install and remove too. Another poster on this board suggested making an installation tool from a one inch dowel by cutting a slot in the end. Sounds like a helpful idea that I'm going to try.

Have a great time on your boat.
