2003 Leftover Good Deal?

I am looking at a 170 Bass that one of the dealers has brand new from 2003. It comes with a 60hp Yamaha engine. He is asking 12,500 for it. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on if this was a square deal.

Thanks...

What was the MSRP?
I would consider 20% off the first year, then 10%/year there after as optimum. Is it slightly used? Or showroom floor clean? Price could be closer to 10% off for year one and 5% per year thereafter is perfectly new and unused with extra's. Electronics if included my be found much cheaper now a days or obsolete so check current prices for 2003 products.

Why did it not sell....year after year?

Make sure you will be the original owner and that the warranty will be effective within 2 weeks of purchase. Check warranty of motor. Warranty of trailer.
If not ideal, you are assuming "risk" and should lean more toward the aggressive depreciation rate. Check for similar boats online that are for sale and see what is out there at what price.
Good Luck, Molar

It is showroom new. Never been in the water. Why it hasn't sold, I have no idea. It comes with all electronics. Owner told me that is all paperwork is signed by 4/1, Yamaha warranties the engine in full for 6 yrs. after 4/1, it is warrantied for 3 yrs. He told me that new in 2003 this boat sold for 16,500.

Thanks...

Kip,
Not really not much more feedback any of us can give you on this... I did though type the year and model into Goggle for some down and dirty comparison shopping (what the market is looking to get for the same thing used) and this is what showed up on the screen....

Now from what I glanced at, it "appears" that is a fair deal for a brand new boat, but it is not my wallet you know

Well I have done some searching around too. It does seem like a good deal and it is exactly what I am looking for. However, I still can't get over why it hasn't sold. The boat show is this weekend and I think I will wait until after. If it doesn't sell I am going to go and make him an offer. Thanks for the input.

Thanks....

I paid 13k for a brand new 2005 with the 60hp motor. I ended up repowering it with a 75hp. Mine came with the bow rail, bimini top and swim step. So, not sure how good your price on the 2003 really is.

UNLESS YOU ARE FISHING OPEN WATER OFFSHORE(NEAR SHORE) ,I DONT THINK THERE IS A MORE VERSITILE MODEL THAN THE 17 BASS . ALOT OF EXTRA STUFF ON THAT MODEL THAN BAREBONES CENTER CONSOLE. ALL NEW FULL WARRANTY--AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THAT MODEL IS NO LONGER AVAIL. I'M SUPPRISED THOSE ON THIS SITE LOOKING ONE HASNT ALREADY BOUGHT IT OUT FROM UNDER YOU ALREADY!!

What are the drawbacks of fishing near shore with this boat??? Why is it important that it is no longer available?

Thanks...

The only downside I can see near shore is if you get into 3' swells there is nothing to hang onto and its a little easier standing up when working through waves instead of wind chop. It should be no harder moving around than trying to get past the CC on my 170. Price is decent for a brand new boat, and the bass does come with a variety of "stuff". I suspect why it didn't sell has been stated elsewhere - Guys that are looking at bass boats are more interested in shiny, glittery and unnessecarily fast instead fishing versatility.
