Well, as I posted in Meet and Greet, the first of five new 17'cc has arrived. I got a chance to take it out for the first time. I have to admit I was impressed. The engine ( 60 hp four stroke Yamaha) started immediately and idled smoothly. I would have been surprised it id didn't start and run well considering that a run twin F225's on my own boat. Unfortunately the bay was calm so we didn't see how it handled a chop but from the result of the shakedown, it will do OK. The boat planed off nicely with two and performance was brisk. The ride was very comfortable and the layout of the boat was great. I was a little surprised to find that there was no horn on the boat. I also would have liked a small dry storage compartment in the console. I think that engine that came with the boat was on the small side but it is perfect for what we plan to do with them. They are rental boats for the servicemen at Norfolk Naval base. I think the prop could have used less pitch. The one installed only ran 53-5400 trimmed out. If it were for me I'd opt for the 75 hp. All in all, I couldn't find anything that I could find fault in. After taking the manager of the marina for a ride, he commentedd about next time getting 3 or 4 21' CC. I don't think that we are going to fill the anticipated request for rentals. It is definitely great for was it was designed. It attracted alot of attention and potential buyers. I'm sure if I had five more, I could rent them with no problem. Here's a pic of the first of five with the manager at the helm.
