First 2 hours
Well, so far so good. Grade A. Just got back from Gwynn's Island, near Deltaville VA., where we put in at a great, free of charge boat ramp where they also serve some killer fried seafood. Launching was easy, very easy once the trailer wheels were almost submerged. It was a shallow ramp, but I was able to push it off without much strain.
Another 15 minutes or so at 2000 rpm on the Yamaha 60 hp 4 and we were ready to try 3000 rpm. I think we were planing or right on the edge of planing at 3000 rpm. Speedo showed 10 to 15 mph. Our dealer had installed a Doelfin hydrofoil on the cavitation plate, at no extra charge, to boost the hole shot and it seems to work in that respect. Tootled around another hour or so and then experimented with higher rpms. Saw 4800 rpm, trying to creep higher and 34 mph on the speedo before my wife suggested I slow down for the good of the motor. Stiff breeze and 1-2 foot chop coming from the southwest. Had it been from Northeast, coming down 70 miles or so of Chesapeake Bay, it would have been a much different storyand I doubt 34 mph would have been prudent. Still, I liked the way we were able to get on top of the little chop and mild little white caps we saw today. More later with photos hopefully. |

Funny you mention it. My first 2 hours were interesting in the fact that that RPM range is right between on plane and not. 3000 wnet better when I got on plane and backed down to it.
