Why would I not want to buy off ebay? I have purchased a motorcycle off there with super results, I bought another bike off cycletrader thet turned out equally good. I did buy a bike from a dealer with terrible results(broken head gasket). Seems they " forgot" to tell me about that. I smelled the coolant but they explained that they just filled and serviced the machine so it had that smell... cost me $600.00 to have fixed at another "reputable" shop. If the Logic/Triumph boat is so indestuctible, why would I want to go to a dealer and pay for their overhead, profit, etc. Seems to me that the only thing to really worry about on the boat is the motor. I have found that private sellers are far more honest and fastidious in the care they give their boats than any dealer...but, back to my original question... dc or cc? What are the benefits/downfalls of either?

As far a CC or DC it will come down to personal preference. I have the CC and LOVE it. I striper fish with a downrigger. I have the ability to move around in this boat that I may not have had with a DC. Also, again personal opinion but I have always wanted a CC. I have not been disappointed. Keep us posted on what you end up with.
Happy and safe boating and fishing! Pip |

I have a 170 dc 2005 with a 60 Yammy and I love it. With three people on it, it will do 30 mph full out. There is plenty of room for fishing without bumping into each other. So enjoy
any type that you decide on. |

whoopbass-I know your post was a long time ago but just in case you are still visiting this site...I just purchased a 2002 170 Bass with a 70 HP Yamaha and was pleased to read your post. I have a trolling motor, two fish finders and of course the two bait wells. Can you tell me what your battery situation is- how many, what size, what you run off of each one and how long they last etc. I hope you're still in the loop as I will have many more questions.

Dave,
I've got a 2004 170DC we bought a few month's ago, so I'm far from and expert. We've put about 25 hours on the boat so far, and just love it. We've got the Yamaha 75hp 4 stroke, and it's quiet, with plenty of power. 8-10 hours of cruising, trolling and responding to "go fast grandpa" seems to equate to 7-8 gallons of fuel. Most of the time it's just my wife and I in the boat, and we find the dual console configuration very comfortable for cruising. When we want to fish, I use the front pedestal seat and bow mounted trolling motor. She spins her seat around and trolls, or stands and cast from the rear. Works great!. When we've had our daughter and two local grandsons along it's been quite confortable for all. While we haven't tried it yet, (water's still too cold in Colorado) I'm sure we'll have enough power to pull my wife on a tube, or me (at about 190lbs) on ski's. Please note that for purely selfish reason's I didn't mention my wife's weight! Which ever boat/engine combination you decide on, I would strongly recommend a hydrofoil. I installed the one from http://www.bobsmachine.com ( I believe it's listed as a "stablizer") and am more than pleased with it's performance. I obviously have no experience with offshore boating, but during our most recent trip on a 35 mile long reservoir we encountered 3-4 foot waves and 30mp winds that were handled with ease on my part, and only mild tepridation by my wonderful wife. I got the 195 DC for the same reason. More room for the family and friends. Now if I were just going to fish all the time with a buddy and leave the wife and kid I would have definatly gone CC. I looked hard at them but I had to consider the comfort for the wife.
