Cushions

Anybody else have trouble with the snaps on thier front cushion? Mine snapped so tight it just recently ripped thru the cushion trying to unsnap it and I only have 1 usable snap left of the original 4. The one in front was so **** impossible to get to I ended up tying it to the small metal bar in front with 50lb test. Is it the material of the cushion is weak,or is there a way to make the snaps not so tight? Would this be covered since the boat is only a few months old?

RDRSTEVE,
Mine are doing ok on my 170CC.The front snap could use a little more lenght in the strap. I try to lubricate the snaps(both sides) a few times during the year. It seems to help them release easier. I think they corrode/oxidize a little and that makes them harder to snap and release.

front snaps

Ive had the same problem, almost impossible to get the front snap on the front cushion snapped--strap needs to be an inch longer and the snap further from the cushion. Easy fix if the Triumph people are aware of the problem. You can't put much side force on the snaps or they pull through the vinyl, so its important they align easily without stretching the vinyl covers.

Snaps!!!

RD Steve,

I've had the same problem with my bow cushion and I bought my boat a few weeks after you from MDM. That front snap is the worst design but the others(rear seats are not much better). So far MDM ihas been very good about the replacement/repairing of the snap problems. I'm taking in my bow cushion on Monday to be fixed. One thought I've had is that when they restitch it is not to have the strap reattched to the actual cushion creating a bit more strap to work with. I'm hoping this does not create to much tension on the strap when someone is sitting up thre. I've also considered putting some velcro on the outside edges of the bottom of the cuchion to alieviate some of these problems. One problem with this idea may be the glue that holds the velco may not be very water tolerant.

Here is a neat trick that works for us, use it alot. Electrical Silicone grease, It's used to make serious electrical connections from the power companies in the transformers to power your house, Also used on spark plug boots to make a watertight yet easily removable connection for your spark plugs, We all know what a pain they can be to remove on your car right? It will never happen again with this stuff. Take a Q-tip dab a little inside the female part of the snap connection and swirl it all around. This will prevent the corrosion build up of that little c-clip that's inside the female snap. You can buy the same stuff I use in your auto parts store under a different scenario, Just ask for spark plug boot silicone grease, same stuff, different application. It never goes rancid, never gets salt water infusion and last forever and is self lubricating......no charge for this trick..lol
Oh yeah, I just remembered, the correct term is "Dielectric Grease" old age creeping up faster than I thought!!!!
