Is the motor in the lowest mounting position?

Its not the prop. try droping it all the way down on dry land. see for shure its going all the way. if not find out why. if yes, look for some thing that would make it rise, anything out of level in the rear part of the hull sticking downward. check with the builder what is the designed Planing speed may be higher than you expect.

Also check your payload and see if anything of significant weight could be relocated more forward.

I had the same issue on my 170CC with a 60hp Suzuki. Turns out the Suzuki is 50 pounds or so heavier than comparable outboards. I added a $40 hydrofoil and it made a world of difference.

I added a hydro foil ($50/ basspro.com) and it made a tremendous difference.

May be viewed as over kill by some but with Bennett trim tabs and Doel-fin on the motor, even with a heavy 80 hp Yam 4-S, I can jump up on plane staying almost parallel with the water. Motor trim comes to play and will be determined by how high or low the motor is set on the transom.

Could also plough the bow or shoot the sky if not set up right, not paying attention.

I have a 90 Yami on the 17CC. I have the same problem if I have a couple of guys in the back and the weight isn't distributed correctly. Bow just sticks straight up and engine sounds like its grabbing too much air.....I forget what they call that ..."cavetating?"

Be safe.........

Had the same problem with mine, would ride high until I got on plane (had to stand up to see over the bow). Added a Stingray fin to the motor and no more problem. The boat now responds to the slightest trim movement. Also noticed steering was improved as well.

I have the same bow rise issue, plus it takes a little longer to get on plane if I have a heavier than normal load(although I am a little under powered). I was looking at Cabala's web site to purchase a hydro foil after reading these posts. The only problem is I do not know which one to buy. I kind of like the one that also acts as a pseudo trolling motor-Any advise?
