Help with a 2006 17cc

Hey all,

This is my first boat and so far it's been great. I had a couple of questions:
I want to run the baitwell, navagation lights and fish finder from an alternate battery. How would I do that? What's a good battery? And what's an easy way to charge that battery when I'm not using it.

I'm using riding this boat around the st. lucie/ indian river areas if anyone is curious.

Thanks!
sid

I installed a battery for my electronics up under the center console. I installed a battery switch so I can charge the battery or use it if the starter battery dies. Took about 2 hours to install everything and cost me about $200 including the battery, cables, and battery switch.

What type of motor are you running on your unit? Did you by this boat new? I had a 210 cc and I loved it , now I own a 170 cc and put an extra battery under the console.I had it installed at Modern Marine .

I'm running a 60HP Mercury. Yeah, Modern Discount Marine, that's where I bought my boat. I should ask those guys. Actually, I just might keep an extra battery under the center console just in case.

just my 2 cents.....I have two batteries in the stern with a switch. When I go out some of these salt water creeks in off the Delware Bay in NJ, I could be there for years with out a paddle....if one battery failed. Love this 17CC. Good Luck! Be safe....
