Honda 50hp 4 stroke AMP output

I'm considering buying a small center console that has a Honda 50hp 4 stroke on it. The guy has is set up right now with a trolling motor running to its own battery and another battery for engine starting and minor electronics. Currently the boat does not have a on-off switch for either of the batteries. If I buy it I would like to add a second battery for house use and keep the starting battery for engine starting only. The Honda only puts out 10amps. If I install one of the BEP switch-combiners will these engine be able to charge the 3 batteries. I'm not too worried about the trolling battery, that can be left out of the loop. I just want to make sure the house and starting battery will be able to charge OK. The engine is a 2003 with about 50 hours on it.

I have a 17SC with a honda 50 on it. I am not completely happy with the motor. I bought it last year and the motor is a 2003 with low hours on it like what you are looking at. The starting and idling of the motor can be frustrating. I have had it back to the dealer and they say everything is fine. It will load up while idling, and also idle rough. I don't have anything against Honda as they are good motors, but I don't like this one. Once past idle the motor runs great. Has plenty of power, and burns very little fuel.

Thanks for your input. I thought the motor was fuel injected, but as far as I can tell its 3 carbs. I also understand from posting on The Hull Truth these motors are known for their lower end rusting. I"ll look around for one with a Yamaha or etec.

Being that it has carbs is the main problem. There is a lot of small passages that get clogged from what I have read. I am going to pull my cabs apart this winter to see if I can get it to run better. I haven't heard about the rusting problem. I may upgrade to a fuel injected yamaha at some point.

I have a 17' cc with a 1998 Honda 50 I troll 4-6 hours each time I fish runs perfect at 900 RPM all day.It did start to get a little lumpy about 2 years ago till I put in some Lucas Upper Lubricant Cleaner fixed it up within 2 hours give that stuff a try first.I have had good results on older motorcycles as well. One other thing is I run only 87 octane fuel in all my engines I don`t care what the owners manual say`s 87 leaves less carbon behind and that causes more trouble than anything. My Honda has over 600 hours at 900 RMP and runs like the day I bought it.
