17CC with water in the hull
I stopped at a Triumph dealer on the DE/MD state line on Thursday. He a had few 17CC's in stock so I decided to take a good look at them. The only real concern I would have with owning the boat is this. Their seemed to be a fair amount of water in the bilige and in the two storage boxes port and starboard stern. All the plugs were pulled and the trailer had a fair amount of tilt on it. I did go a far as sticking my finger in the drains to see if they were block. They were not. My guess is this would be a problem during the winter months. I live in a state were it goes below freezing a lot. Is this common? And how many of you mount your batteries there?

My 170 CC is a 2002. There is = < 1" of water in the bilge under the hatches with the drains open. There is miminal water closer to the center line where the two drains are located. I find that trailering home, curves and bumps, gets the water in the battery area down to less than 1/2 " in depth. My boat is stored inside, unheated so I use a sponge to remove any residual at the end of the use season. Outside storage with rain and melting snow could maintain water to the level of the cross drains that flow midships toward the drain plugs. With tongue jack sitting on a block and the bow elevated there would be minimal water but, don't really have a better answer for this one... |

I just put mine to bed for the winter. Like someone else said I used a towel to get what little water was left out. I tonly took a couple of minutes. I cover my boat so additional water over the winter is not a problem.

My 01 sits outside uncovered and I have never had a problem with the very little bit of water that remains in the bilge. My battery is in the starboard side stern compartment.
