You don't really need any sealant as the area you are screwing in to is solid and doesn't go into the inner hull. I've had my seat post installed for over three years and it's still as solid as the day I put it in. Good luck.

I use rule on every screw I have jput into my boat. Even if the area is solid the rule seems to act kind of like a glue and helps the screws stay seated.

Did the seat come as a kit from the dealer or did you buy everything seperate. I have been wanting to put one in my 17 Fish. I don't have a dealer close to me here in southern maryland, so I haven't gone to inquire yet.

The mounting hardware (the base, screws, bracket, etc) come as a kit from Triumph. I bought the pedestle and seat seperatly from Cabelas. You need to remove the center screw from your decking and screw the base into that hole. Check out the pictures under the 170CC modifications section of the photo album. Let me know if you have any questions.

I bought the whole kit from modern discount marine in ft. pierce, the local triumph dealer for that area.. I will say, however, that it did not come with any instructions on what screws go where and how to mount it,so I am open for suggestions....any?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so here goes:

Remove the middle decking screw just below the front casting platform and screw the base into that hole. Then put the silver bracket over the base and screw it to the casting platform between the fish boxes.

Use the four screws provided to secure the bracket in place. There is also a black cover that is used to go over the base but I chose to leave it off. That's really all there is to it. Please ask if you have any other questions.

Good luck.
