Getting a 17CC E-Tec Engine Choice?

It looks like I will be buying a 17CC in March. My choice of engines from the dealer are Yamaha or Evinrude. I think I will be going with the E-Tec 60hp or 75hp. I have owned Yamaha in the past, but I like the idea of less to do and less parts on the E-Tec's. Anyone happen to know what the top end speed difference is between these two? I see the weight difference is about 80lbs. I'm not sure if the $1000.00 price gap will be worth it. Most of the time I will be 2-3 up fishing, with some tubing also.

Thanks

With 4 men I have never had a problem with power or getting on a plane. you shouln't have any problems pulling anything. The etech is faster than any 4stroke out of the hole and just keeps on going. So don't panic you will have lots of power and the 170cc is a light boat. Good luck!

Feejer,
I have a 2 stroke Mercury 60 hp on my 170CC and it has plenty of power. I have pulled a tube with two kids (ages 13 and 10) with another adult and two kids in the boat. There was no problem getting up on plane or making sharp turns when I needed to dunk them. I normally fish with one other person but have loads of gear that we take along and again never a problem with needing more power. You should be fine with either engine you choose.

feejer, minn kota has a nice motor mounted trolling motor. It is the rt55em. That is the salt water version. I'm going to put one on my 170cc when it warms up a bit around here. -6f here in Maine. I asked little casino about his and he said they work well. Just a thought. Remeber it's better to have more power than not enough. Good luck. Bob

We're going ice fishing at Deep Creek Lake in western Maryland this weekend. I guess I won't be seeing you there? Should be a balmy 15 degrees with 15 - 20 mph winds. Great fishing weather.
