Tim,
I don't think inner hull drains have ever been an issue on the 170 model. I've got a 2004 and have never had a problem. Speed has stayed the same for three seasons. 37mph (GPS) WOT. My theory is "if it ain't broke don't fix it". The less holes in a hull, the better.Just my opinion.Good luck.

I have a 2006 170cc and asked my dealer about it only because some of the bigger boats had them. He stated that the 17cc didn't need them. My dealer has been great and really knows his stuff so I trust his advice. I have a hard 100+ hrs on the boat and no problems. Bob

I have an '02 170 CC. The inner hull drain is located {factory installed} in the bilge. There should be an inspection plate just in front of your motor. Pull the plate and you should be able to see the back of your fuel tank and the center stringer. Run you hand along the starboard side of the stringer under the fuel tank and you should find a plug identical to those in the transom. Keep in mind you can't see the plug only feel it. It's pretty tight so remember lefty loose, righty tight. Takes a bit of a contortionist to get to it but mine was there so I assume they still install them there.

Hey folks ,found the drain, and it was LOOSE!!.My bilge pump was working over time the last couple trips. There is definite water in the hull. Pulled out the bow inspection cover and it was like a rainforrest with condensation, but no water from innerhull drain.Any suggestions on drying things ?I have noticed a drop in top speed. The inner hull drain seems like it's in a strange spot. Thanks for any suggestions! TIM IN FL.

Tim,
I can't imagine where you're getting enough water in your hull to make your bilge pump work over time while you're underway. Have you used your livewell? If so check your hose connections in the bilge with the livewell pump working to make sure it's not leaking in the hull around the hose clamp, etc. The only other place I can think of would be your two black plastic hull plugs in the back/bottom of your hull (outside). Some time back a few people were having a small problem with the red plastic washers leaking and replaced them with good black rubber garden hose washers. Make sure they are screwed in pretty tight. Good luck.
