170 Dc Hour Meter Question

Does anyone know what the flashing 8 on the left side of the hour meter means? How about, are there any alarms,(too hot, low oil, etc.) on the 170's?

If you look close I think it is a blinking hour glass to show it is working. On my 170cc there is a gauge that has all the lights and alarms for that stuff. when you turn on the key it cycles through the check and then beeps if everything is ok.
