An amazing boat:)

I have a 170CC w/ a 60yamaha, and have owned it for about 5 months. I bought it new and have thus far put about 18hrs. on it. I have been averaging a top speed of about 37.5 miles at about 5100-5200rps. the other day I was out and took the boat about 30 miles off shore. Yes, it was a very calm day-wind less than 5. The boat hit 41.5 miles at 5100rpm and held this for about 15 min. then I did no less than 38 miles all the way back. WOW, that was fast and impressive for this boat. What a smooth ride. I have not yet passes 5200rpm and heard that it is supposed to reach 5500. Is this correct???

Oh ya.. I killed the bass & blue fish off NY south.

I read the speed by both my instrument pannel and the GPS

You sound very close on the numbers you posted for mph and rpm, depends what prop you have? I have a 170 dc w/ 60 yam. (02' boat and 05' motor) on a smooth lake I have run 37 mph. @ 4400 rpm. / instrument panel readings. I've been told by a dealer if I change prop sizes I could get up to 5500-5900 and more top end speed, but would sacrifice load capacity and towing ability. With 1 person, trolling motor, 2 batteries, and 20 gals. of fuel I can plane off in 6 - 8 seconds. I'm considering getting a spare prop and testing the theory, I would like to plane off quicker.
