What are must have options on the 170cc

Thinking about getting a 170cc and need to know options are worth considering, ie. Are the rear seat backrest worth a look, it seems to me they may get in the way when fishing? Any comments ar egreatly appreciated. I'd say the boat will be used for 80% fishing/crabbing and 20% pleasure. Thanks.

I have a 170 DC and I remove the padding when I go fishing, put back on when I take the family. The back rest frame is a handy place to install extra rod holders and have not been a problem fishing. Definitely get the swim ladder. I would skip the bow pad, hardly use it.
Love the boat!

Same here on the bow pad...used it once, now it takes up space in the garage. I would recommend getting the swim platform also...peace of mind in case you fall overboard.

I did not realize you could remove the padding for the back rest. I can see by your picture what you mean about extra rod holders. Thanks for the info!

Great point about the bow pad, that did cross my mind. I think you're right on regarding the swim platform, Thank you!

Swim platform and a Bimini top was all the wife needed. Keep the wife happy and everybody is happy.

I got my boat equipped with just about everything that was available. I did away with the huge bow rails and had the handrails installed so i could use a trolling motor up front. The rear seats don't get much use simply because when trying to get on a plane it is more difficult if someone is sitting in them. A swim platform is a must and i would recommend a bimini top if u are out in the sun a lot. The only other piece of equipment i would definitely recommend is a depth finder. Other than that the rest depends on what u need for the use of your boat. As far as the bow cushion i wouldn't bother with it. I love my boat by the way it's a lot of fun with very little in the way of upkeep.

Must Have's on 170 CC

Have owned 170 CC since new 2002. Most options purchased with delivery but additions over the years have added to user satisfaction.

Have 55 lb. thrust Minn Kota Trolling motor on a quick removal base with bow motot plug and deep cycle battery under console.

Both Doel fin and trim tabs. Great to run in various seas and loads on boat. Most benifit of Doel fin is carving turns vs. skidding.

Todd adjustable heigth leaning post. Has four rod holders and storage. Room for 55 qt. Rubbermaid between legs of Post.

Two drawer tackle storage installed in port side of console. After market from Bass Pro. The 2002 had a nice flat space for this addition.

Timer for live well pump. Conserves battery and actually keeps baits more frisky with high flow but will cycle off as desired.

Many rod holders clamped to side rails and console grab rail. One on each side rail, two vertical on console rail and two accross top that are set to angle out for trolling, drifting or anchored out to soak baits.

Also have a horizontal rod holder mounted down port side. Boatbuckle?? Had to be modified a bit to be installed but work very well

Lorance depth finder with speed and temp.

Purchased as option the bow seat but only used a few times fishing fresh water. Stripers at night... Console/livewell coushion and stern seat coushions stay in storage unless the boat is going to play at a local lake.

Use Garmin handheld GPS H2O black & white and hand held Uniden VHF that is used more for weather than communication.

This boat is used almost exclusively for fishing but will pull a tube, skis, wake or knee board. My son and daughter-in-law with friends use the boat several times each season. The 80 hp. 4 stroke Yam. serves nicely with only a sip of gas. Typically play all day at the lake and fill up with 6-8 gallons.

Over time this boat has become loaded but not loaded down.... Obviously this stuff is not for every one.
