plugs in transom
Hi, I just bought a 2007 170CC
On the transom, I noticed two big plugs about 1.5" in diameter, they have a rectangular depression like for a big screw driver in them. They are about 5" above the Stainless Steel anchor points on either side of the transom. It almost seems as like the dealer had something installed there. Removed it and then plugged it. Is this standard on triumphs? Why are these "plugs" there? I called dealer. Haven't heard back yet. Thanks. |

They are spin weld plugs. They are used at the factory to plug the holes where the high density foam was sprayed into the transom of your boat. They are standard on all Triumph boats. Do not try to remove them unless you have a way to reinstall them. The are installed by spinning them very fast, creating friction and melting the plug and the base ares toghter. Hopes this helps. Bob
Wecome to the site, check it out, lots of info about your boat here. The pictures are the top and bottom of the plugs and the arbor used to install them with a router. |
