The older decals seemed to date the boats. If you knew what color each year had you knew exactly the age of the boat. The way they have them now a 2007 looks just like the newer 2008. To each his own. I guess thats why they make options on boats and cars.

fridaysoff, when you take things out of context and run with them, you come up with ideas that I would want a boat that looks like a Snicker Candy Bar. That's far from what I had in mind when I mentioned that it would be nice to have a few decal options. I happen to like the decal on my boat that runs along the water line the jogs up towards the front. Why did you you take the red decal off from around the Brand name? I happen to like that on my boat. But then, as you say, to each his own, at least we agree on something.

If you have bolt thru connectors there should be an access plate nearby to be able to access the nut on the other side of the bolt. If you have screws that have stripped you can order some Roplene powder in your boat color (most are white of course) and follow instructions shared in other posts on the site to "hot dip" the screws and reseat them. It is an easy way to fix stripped screws and it works. I've got 85 hours on my 215 and I haven't found a screw loose yet (on the boat that is ).

I've not heard of Elastisomer. I'll check that out. I'll try to post an article on repairing stripped screws. It is a segment in the Triumph Boat Maintenance and Modifications DVD I'm working on but I have been SLOOOOOOOOW in getting the DVD finished. Hopefully it will be completed soon.

Where ever applicable and able. Swap out screws which seem to loosen more with either:

1. Thru bolting with washers and nylock nuts or
2. Longer screws with elastomeric or "powder" or plastic shreds left over from drilling and installs
3. Use longer and fatter screws with the above mentioned thread lock aids.

I had screw problems, just decided to not have them anymore.

good luck, Molar

Thumbs up loose screws

THANKS ! for the tips! think i'm gonna try the powder, tried larger screws to no avail. You get to large and you have to make your countersinks larger for flush mount screwhead! where does it end!? Hope the powder does the trick!
thanks for everyones help!

If a hole gets too big you can use Roplene Welding Rods (available from your dealer or online at MerrittMarine.com in the color of your boat) and fill the holes completely then reset the screws. You can do just about any kind of repair with these boats.

You can call Dick at Merritt Marine and order a welder from them or you can find them at Harbor Freight and other suppliers. At Harbor Freight it is $29.99.

If you do a search on this site for "welder" you'll find several threads with information like this one:
welding plastic

The Bic lighter is not a good solution.
