I haven't had my floorboards up in that part of the boat but I'm pretty sure that the top part of the hull lies directly under the floorboards. Just curious, why would you want to install a hatch there? I would think that you could open yourself up to water intrusion if you breach the top part of the hull but I could be wrong...wouldn't be the first time.

Tight lines.

If I remember correctly when looking inside the console of my 2004 170CC, There did not appear to be much space under the floor boards forward. Possibly enough room to run wires to a trolling motor, but thats about it. I'm like Chuck, I don't think anything good could result from a hatch being in that area. It's too easy to trip on something in a boat and I remember my 170CC being very narrow in the beam. Look in your console first. I think there is an opening in the floor boards. It will give you an idea of the space forward. I've never seen any schematics that would help. Good luck.

FWIW...I store my extra life jackets in the cooler under the helm seat. When my boat is under power, I have everyone in the boat wear them.

Tight lines.

I found these photos from somewhere on the site. These are not my boat but someone was fortunate enough to get factory photos for reference.

You can store a couple of lifejackets in the back of the cc beside the live well till needed. You will have to get on your knees to get them in or out but they will fit.
I have seen under the floor in these boats alot and there is not much room. The photes that STL170 has are correct but the photos look like there is more room than there really is.

Small Storage Space

Hi rikashay,

Storage space is limited in a 17 footer. I use the space behind the cooler to store two lifejackets. Important, when trailering the boat, remove the lifejackets. I almost lost the two on the highway.
I stow two more jackets in the CC and if necessary the last two in a forward hatch.

Attached are some low rez photos for ideas.
