Barry,
I had a 170CC before I bought the 195CC. I used a small 3' stainless steel antenna for my VHF and mounted it on the side of the console. I had good results with it. We played a lot on the boat and I felt that mounting it on the gunwale would not last long before someone broke it or it got in the way of fishing rods etc. I still got a good range with the 3'. Check them out.Make sure you get the stiff one that does not whip back and forth much. Good luck. John D. |

BarryB, I've attached a picture of the 2005 150CC that I had. It will show that I had the VHF radio mounted just under the binnacle control, and the 3 ft. s/s whip was mounted to the grab rail. I didn't have any problems with the radio transmission or reception with the antenna mounted in that position. If I had thought about it, I would have mounted the antenna on the left side of the console, and on the grab rail as I have done with my 190 Bay.
I have my VHF radio mounted in about the same location on my 190 Bay. I ran the antenna wire into the center console behind the radio, then came out of the left side of the center console and mounted the antenna on the grab rail in the area where you see the gps antenna mounted on the grab rail of the 150CC that I had. Hope that helps. |

Big thanks to Captains: Jack7265 and Fridaysoff. I planned on mounting the radio under the binnacle and I'll mount the antenna on the port side of the CC. I'll have to mount a bracket that folds down so I have garage door clearance.
