Hi Bluecrab, A fuel/water seperator will remove the water ( I beleive at 10 Microns.). That being said, I would still have trouble turning over the fuel based on my use patterns. Thus small tanks = fresh fuel Bob

On the subject of fresh fuel I suspect there to be a whole tank of fuel that is over 6 months old but am not sure. One of my buddies said I should siphon it out.
Plus I "plan" on using my boat as much as I can this summer. I plan on doing some camping with it :-) Also the shop manual came in. Looks nice and has some great information. ~blue~ |

Dick, I keep thinking you need to retire to the Florida Gulf Coast.
Much nicer weather for boating. ![]()

Bluecrab and Bob_bra,
I just purchased a used 170CC with a F75D Yamaha. My dealer (Hooked on the Bay) said because of the E10 eythanol fuels now, that I should use two additives AT ALL TIMES because of possible carbon build up with E10. They are PRI-G (1oz/16gal) and Star-Tron (2oz/16gal of gas). they are a little expense but go along way, and if they keep the engine purring then I am happy. I also have the inline fuel/water separator. Bluecrab, Nice job on your maiden voyage. I took mine out for the first time 3/26/08, and caught a nice 30" Rock fish. Had to release it though because it is only "Catch & Release" season right now. Jim |

fuel additives
I am wondering where I might find these fuel additives on the west coast. The only one I seem to find is sta-bil. From what you'all have said it is not as effective as Startron and I haven't heard of Pri-G at all before this. Little help? Thanks.

Biff,
Here is the websites for the fuel additives, and I checked both of them and they say that both are available at West Marine. http://www.priproducts.com/default.htm http://www.startron.com/index.php?sec=1 I hope this will help. By the way my dealer said that they do not recommend Sta-bil. Jim |
