Hi Manny. Congratulations on the 170DC! Check with your local Triumph Dealer. If you don't have a dealer nearby you can contact the guys at Merritt Marine (my dealer) in Hillsborough, NC. They carry just about everything you can think of for new and previous year model Triumphs.

Before you do that, do you plan on fishing out of the front of the boat and maybe mounting a trolling motor? While there are a few models on the market that you can use with a bow rail, the majority would require either modifying the rail or could not be used at all with the rail in place.

If you don't plan on fishing and use the boat for cruising/tubing/etc. the a bow rail would be a fine addition. However, when I bought my 170CC, that was the first thing I changed. It came with the high rail and I traded it for the grab rails. Most of the time the high rail was just in the way. Getting in and out of the front was much more difficult and anchoring was a pain.

Either way you decide to go, congrats on the new boat. You made a very good choice.

Tight lines.

Manny,
I agree with cagrove, if you plan using it for fishing I would go with the side rails only.

Congratulations,
Jim

Bow Rails

Just another opinion, I like my bow rails and use a trolling motor up front. I just cut the rails back a little. It does however limit your choices in trolling motors to ones you can deploy in this configuration. Mine works very well and I enjoy the co-pilot feature as well. Good luck.

Thanks guys. The reason I am thinking of bow rails is that I have young kids and the added safety is a plus. thanks again for your replies.
