Angry crappy gas bulb on 170 w/75e-tec

the gas pump up bulb to my 75 e-tec on my 170 sarted leaking from both ends at BOTH the fittings...they were not not under unusal stress and the black rubber bulb split at the ends...this rig has 30 hrs on it and is less than a year old...the bulb has made in Tiwian on it..so I replaced it one I had from my older boat as a temp fix...it just ticked me off that they using this kind of junk on an otherwise good boat and motor.... thanks for letting me vent////

couture,
Maybe that bulb does not like that new 10% corn juice (ethanol) that they are forcing you to use down there in the sunshine state. Better get some Startron.

I see you are in Fl like me and I'm sure you have the bulb out of the sun. Just replaced my entire system. The hose coming from the compartment to the motor gets replaced about every year with the UV rays. I keep the boat on a lift maby one day I'll put a cover over it. Go ahead and vent if it helps because boats can be a pain sometimes but lets face it it's a labor of love....J.Bass

Thumbs down crappy bulb

yes, I have full mooring cover on boat at all times....my other 2 boats do not and they (pontoons) sit in the water in the sun and have not had a problem with those, using same gas. I've never had a bulb do that, but i do replace the hoses, bulbs, etc every 24 t0 30 months routinely..the bulb on my 170CC is least exposed to the elements and with only 30 hours and overa year old you would think the thing would last a little longer..built in China is the problem I'm sure.
