Question Dodger?

Has anyone seen a Dodger for the 170CC. I believe that is the name used to describe a small tent like structure mounted on the bow of the boat.

I would think that a Bow Dodger would not serve much use in such a small area, and many people do not realize (until you get one) just how much one can kill your visibility to pilot your boat when running with one up

I though, would run searches on the words Bow Dodger or just Dodger and see what you can find... I know several have been install on 210's. Matter of fact, we had one on our old 210 long before the factory came out with one, so I can speak from experience on how it can make it hard to see over when left up.

Thumbs up I Agree

Hi Putershark,

I agree that a Bow Dodger would be too big for regular use. I was looking for an enclosure to sleep in when I participate in overnights on the boat.

I plan on building a bow deck extension (removable) similar to one that is pictured on this site. Perhaps a small "Pup Tent" would work.

You might want to consider a Bivy style tent if it's just going to be one person at a time using the shelter. With a casting deck extension, this might just do nicely.

Here's a link:

Let us know (don't forget the pictures) what you decide to do.

Tight lines.

Covers Inc. advertises that they make dodgers (bottom of page): Covers Inc, T Top Covers, Caravelle Boats, Century Boats, Ebbtide Boats, Prosports Boats, Triumph Boats

Custom Canvas of Charleston also makes them: http://www.customcanvasofcharleston.com/homelinks.html

Dodger

Hey Barry, I want to do the same to my 170CC. Been thinking about the deck extension and will probably get it started in the next month. I want to make it removable and foldable. I haven't found a ready made dodger as yet. I would like to use something that uses the flexible tent poles and can pack small for storage. I will try to keep in touch if I find anything and would appreciate if you might do the same.

Thumbs up Dodging the Price

Hi WP, NJ, and CA,

I am looking for the same thing. Something simple to use but easy to take down. I was also thinking of something that zippers to the front of the Bimini top and attaches to the bow (behind the cleats) with snaps. That would make the enclosure taller.

Again, not up when running, only at dock or anchor.

Think I'll have to try a marine canvas person and that will run a few bucks. Hmmm, how do I break that to the wife?

There is a photo of a deck extension of exactly what I was think about posted on this site. Search for it. It's made from the plastic lumber purchase at Home Depot or Lowes and looks great.

I checked out the bivy tents and that is another idea. However, there is only 6 feet of space and the tents are longer than that.
