Polling Platform on the 170cc

Anyone every seen a polling platform on a 170CC. I am just kicking around the idea of maybe putting one on. I like the look of the platform, pulse it gives you another spot to fish and get up and see the fish. I have a 60HP 4Stroke Suzuki and the back seat options on my 170 not sure if the polling platform would at to much weight on to the back of the boat. Not sure if the platform would get in the way of the seats or the swim platform. Just wanted to see what you'll thought. Also does anyone know how much they run $$.

polling platform

My 2001 logic/triump, I suppose, came with a polling platform. I say that because it looks factory . can't say that for sure because it was 1 yr old when I got it. it works great when I have someone with me who can get up on it and use the push pole . Platforms do have there advantages...jeb

Sure have and I even posted a photo on the subject years ago... Took me a while to find it though since our search tool for pictures (unlike threads) does not work very well

Here though is how they looked with one installed which I think was slick when mounted on the old Triumph 150 and 170 "Cool" models of years past that had the real low windscreen

Matter of fact, I bet Merritt Marine still has one laying around or could get you the specs on one (looks simple enough to make) from the factory.

Now I have always said that Triumph is really missing the boat (much pun) by NOT making a true flats boat in both the 170 and 190 hulls, but my 190 is getting closer to a custom built Flats Weapon all the time

I have a 170 Sportsman with an aftermarket steering console and poling platform. I purchased the platform from Merritt Marine who had bought leftover platforms from Triumph when they discontinued their flats version of the 170. I use the boat in Mosquito Lagoon and the Keys and really love its versatility. I did have to remove a swim ladder to install the platform but it doubles as a ladder with a big first step. It's not quite as easy to pole and has a little more hull slap than a Hells Bay, but, Hells bay, it's dry when I take it out on the reef and it cost 1/3 of a technical flats boat.

Ron , when did you purchase your poling platform from Merritt Marine? I called them last week after reading your post and Dick told me they haven't had poling platforms in at least three years. By the way, was that a poling platform on the 17 skiff I saw on You Tube's new triumph advertisement?

It probably was 3 yrs ago that I got the poling platform from Merritt. If you need the dimensions to have one made, let me know and I'll get them to you.

Thanks Ron. When my financial advisor (WIFE) frees up some fundage, I will definitely be giving you a call for those dimensions. In a week or so WIFE and I will be taking the other boat to the custom boat fabricator to have some work done (to sell it) and I will probably ask him to build it. He does great work! I was thinking of a removable top section on the poling platform to facilitate the trailering of a mud motor (long tail) I was planning on getting soon (see WIFE above).Sure would like to see some pictures of your 170 Ron and I hope to get some of mine up soon. Thanks again.
