What brand/size motor do you have? I cannot say I remember a tab above the prop. There is a zinc with a fin on it below the the cavitation plate and behind the prop. Is that what you are referring to? If so which way did you set it up? Left, right, or straight ahead?

Fischer, 70 hp 2 stroke Yamaha. I'm talking about the fin/zinc thing. I have always heard them called tabs. I actually turned it to the starboard 5 or 10 degrees. I took my wrench with me and adjusted it 3 times until I got it right. Adjust, test, adjust, test and so on. Originally it was set straight.
