170 Cool Photos??

Does anyone have any photos of the 170 Cool, specifically the stern? It looks like (see attached photo) it has a good flat area to fish from in addition to the colling platform. I am thinking about doing something similair to my 07 170CC to make the stern a little more fishing friendly. The wife and daughter like to layout/relax up front while I fish. If they are happy then I get to fish more and be happy.

Thanks
Rob

Poling Platform

The easiest thing would be to make a plywood and fiberglass deck for the platform. If you want to stick with Polyethylene (the stuff the rest of the boat is made from), use King Starboard AS (Anti-Skid). The edge is a standard flat-faced radius rubrail. Fasten the forward supports to the tops of the stringer (will have to drill a hole to allow them to pass through th splashwell) and the rear support poles to the thick part of the transom (Above the livewell inlet on that same part). Sorry, I don't have any photos of a 170 Cool but from the one you posted it looks like that is how it is installed.

Thanks. I think you are talking about the polling platform. Which I do plan to install, but I am looking for info on the stern area in front of the motor. Onthe new 170CCs it is a pair of seats and the splashwell. On the 170CC Cool (see photo) it looks like a flat platform all the way across (with storage underneath) instead of seats. Seems like that would make a good area to fish from or layout for the wife.

Thanks
Rob

Platform

I see what you are talking about now. Same general Idea, although easier. 1/4 King StarBoard for the front face, two pieces of StarBoard AS for the deck, each with two Stainless Steel (Preferred) or Chromed-Zinc hinges. Cam lock on center for the two hatches. Same idea for support, use the stringers. Secure along the transom in the same manner the floor is secured under the splashwell. I'm sure the factory part was molded with a rolled edge aroudn the hatch opening. There are two was to do this with starboard. Heat the sheet and bend it around a form, or screw a ledge to the face.

Hey Wolf if you get it done can you post some photos. I want to do kind of the same thing with mine. I want to run the platform to the back of the cooler or take the cooler out and put a leaning post up. Let me know.

From what I recall the both the 170 Cool and the 170 Flats did not have a different stern than any other 170. You can do that same and I did not spend a lot of time doing such, but go to Goggle and search on images and use the words Triumph 170 Cool or 170 Cool and you may find some old pictures of one still posted someplace. Now from what I remember...

The Cool model had a slick looking short console
The Flats (a model they should still make in my opinion) was a Cool and also had a polling platform.

I have the same issue though on my 190 but I am going to fill in that area with a Polling Platform in the style of the Ranger Ghost so I do not have that much more weight behind the stern. I would also check with Merrit Marine, send them a few bucks and see if they can make copies of a old Triumph catalog (if they still have one?) and e-mail them to you
