Transom Ladder for 170CC

Just read two items in the past week about guys who drowned because they couldn't get back in their boats from the water. One fell out...the other climbed out to push his boat off a rock...then had the boat float away from him.

Made me think that a simple transom ladder would be a good item to add to my 2004 170CC. Do any of you have recommendations on a ladder that would be permanently attached to the transom without affecting the operation of the boat? There are several options in the catalogs, but it's hard to tell from a picture and description which would fit best.

Thanks.

I can't picture in my mind how the 170 transon is shaped right now, but for low cost and easy to install, how about a simple rope ladder?

Just a thought

Ladder...

I use my 170cc to bounce my kids around in a tow behind and had problems getting them back in the boat. I tried a rope style ladder and then one that hung over the gunnels with a 3" stand off...each being very hard to enter the boat because of the shape of the hull (the ladder kept wanting to go under the boat) I finally ordered a swim platform (similar to the one on the 190CC) through my Triumph dealer and have been very pleased with it. It was very easy to install and is solid as a rock. It was a little pricey but, since I fish alone a lot, I figured it was worth the peace of mind. I'll try to post some pictures of it. Hope this helps.

Hey, check out http://www.boatownersworld.com/garelick/ladders.htm They have the best selection of different ladders and good prices. I scuba dive frommy 210CC and have been looking for a good ladder. I decided to go with the Garelick Ladders - Sport Diver One Post Ladder. Maybe they'll have something that will meet your needs.

Just an update to this thread. The Garelick ladder I bought fit perfectly, was easy to install and seems to be holding up well (although I only boat in freshwater).

Anyone try one of these? In poly, not teak as the picture shows.

Only difference I see is the Triumph swim platform screws into the top of the transom as opposed to through the face of the transom.

I mounted a platform ladder on my 2005. Only problem, if you call it one is sometimes I got a little water on the back seat. I mean a few drops of water.

Is the water from spray when you're running or from when you climb in the boat over the seat? Or somewhere else?

I saw that you mounted a Garlick ladder to the Transom. I am looking to mount a ladder to the back of my 17 ft logic and I was wondering how you attached yours. I was concerned about the force on the mounting location. I am 200 lbs and I want to make sure I do not pull the ladder out of the back when I try to climb it.

thanks for any suggestions.
