The steering wheel on my 170DC is 90 degrees off. It was that way when I picked up the boat. The dealer told me to unscrew the nut and adjust it. When I popped the plastic cover, no nut. The wheel is pressed on. Follow up e-mails to dealer went unanswered. So my question, do I need a puller to remove the steering wheel? If so, what size and where do I get one? I tried a little prying but its on there good and I dont want to damage the console prying too hard. Any help out there in triumphland?
Another one, it really peeves me that I had to run 30 feet of wire from the bow to the front compartment of the passenger side console where I mounted my trolling battery which is really only about 6 feet away. I have the comfort console (same as the 190DC). I had to run from the bow to the stern and back up to the console. I tried every which way I could imagine to shorten that distance but I couldn't snake it any other way. Seems poorly thought out on the manufacturers side. Don't get me wrong. I love my boat but, being an engineer, I really would like to spend a day at the plant suggesting some design improvements. |

Camshaft, All the wheels that I have ever seen have a nut to secure it. Plastic wheels have 3 slots for the keyway to adjust the wheel. SS wheels only have one slot. Try having someone bump the shaft while you pull up on it, it should come off easily. If it is a new boat, have your dealer do it and get it as close as possible to straight and put a nut on the Helm shaft.
