Front Fishing Seat Problems ????

First just want to start out by saying thanks for all the input from everyone!! I am a new 170cc owner and its my first triumph boat. So far so good.. My only problem is I installed a factory ordered front fishing chair. When I took the floor board srew out to mount the mast the threads appear to be stripped. I spoke with a local marina that is no longer going to carry the triumph line. So you can understand they didnt want to waste their time. I feel that the mast and seat has way to much movment and Im affraid to even use it till I get some imput.. Please help if you can !! ??? Can the threads be repaired or should I just send it back and go aftermarket.... send pictures if you can..

Rick, Heat the screw part of the base with a propane torch and dip it in some PE powder, push the molten globed screw into the stripped out hole. This will reform a firm anchor for the bottom of the base. reinstall the seat and go fishing. If your local dealer doesn't have any powder, give me a call, I'll send some.

Are the threads stripped in Roplene or aluminum? If Roplene, you can get some powder from the factory and dip the screws into a melted batch - effectively welding back the screw into place. You may want to try to get Roplene from your defunct dealer first if they are close. Either way, I would expect a dealer to stand behind a sale. They took your money - they should provide service.

Casting deck bracket??

Rick,
You mentioned too much movement. Make sure you have attached the silver bracket that screws into the casting deck to hold the seat riser. I put the front seat on my boat and once the bracket was installed the riser was rock solid. Hope this helps.

CAGROVE - I have been toying with the idea of a front seat. It sounds likethe bracket you are talking about to is a permanent mount. What happens when you want to take the seat off? Could you post a couple of pictures? Thanks.

Cagrove, Hey Thanks For The Info About My Front Fishing Chair. The Only Thing I Need To Ask Is Maybe I Install This Thing Wrong. The Silver Plate, When You Said Screw It To The Casting Deck Floor??? Mine Right Now Is At The Base Of My Seat Pole?? Should It Be Attached On The Floor By My Front Storage Compartments??? I Waiting For Some Powder Right Now To Fix The Threads That Are Mess Up, But Maybe I Have Two Problems Can You Help?? Ps. If You Can Send A Picture It Would Be Great!!

Silver mounting plate

Fischer/Rick,
I will get the pictures posted. Until then, here's what I did. I removed the center main deck screw at the base of the casting deck. I screwed the riser into the hole until it bottomed out. I then slipped the silver mounting plate over the riser and screwed it into the casting deck between the front fish boxes using the four screw that came with it. This gives it two solid places where it is mounted to the boat. The chair (I opted for a leaning post type) then fits into the riser by way of the 3/4" pin on the seat post. When you don't want the seat, just pull it out...the riser stays. It is the same height as the casting deck so there's nothing to trip over. My front bow cushion snaps around the riser and it doesn't get in the way at all. I know the pictures will be better than the explanation so I'll try to get them posted tonight. Hope this was helpful.

Smile Back In Action !!!!!

Just Wanted To Thank Everyone For The Great Info And Inputs.. And Let Everyone Know That My Problem With My Front Fishing Chair Was A Two Part Problem. First Part Was My Fault, I Installed The (silver) Metal Plate On The Wrong Section Of Floor. It Goes In The Floor Between The Storage Compartments, Not The Floor Of The Craft. (i Fell So Dumb...) Had To Put Some Ss. Buttons And Screws To Cover Up My Mistakes. And Second Part Was The Screw Threads In The Floor Where The Seat Base Attaches To Were Stripped From The Factory, And With Great Support And Powder From My Main Man Dick At "merritt Marine" I'm Back In The Water Looking For Something To Bite!!! Thanks To All!!!!
