Can you lift 17CC from bow/stern eyes?

Looking into buying a new 17 CC but I need to be able to lift the boat onto my bulkhead using a davit and harness. I want to know if the bow and stern eyes have sufficient backing/strength to be used together with a harness to center pick the boat and motor, etc and lift onto my bulkhead.

Anyone have experience with this? I have sent email to the factory but haven't gotten a response (they sent the brochure, but no response to the question).

Thanks, Jeff

you could try posting this in the tdch forum and maybe dick from merritt would have an idea how much they can lift.

Thanks, Posted on the tech talk first and zero replies....i have emailed the factory and will try calling, but i am guessing this design just won't do this. 1200 lbs of pullout force doesn't really mean much for the inserts. Since the force is more shear (up/down) than in/out. I also have concerns of the boat flexing in the middle and basically bowing/bending form the forces on either end.

Doesn't sound like Trumiph will work for me if I can't get this figured out

My understanding is that the eyes will work fine for lifting but not over longer periods of time. But I'm not the expert. Roplene is softer than fiberglass so prolonged stress not built into the design can cause things to happen. The bigger issue for you will not be how the boat is lifted, rather, how it is stored. The bunks on the rack need to be exactly how they are on the trailer and there must be four! Also, try calling Triumph. For some reason they are more responsive to the phone than e-mail.

Talking Nonsence

Hi there guys,

In responce to your questions and concerns about lifting the boat to put on a bulkhead I think I have some answers. If you don't know who I am, I'm a dealer for Triumph in South Florida ( Boathouse), the policy that Triumph has as far as dry storage for a boat off of the trailer is that it has to be supported in the same manner as the trailer setup. In other words, yes the bow and stern eyes do have enough strength to lift the boat but not for long periods of time. They are a part of the boat for different reasons and that's one of them. You just have to create a harness that will support the weight evenly durring the lifting process. While the boat is on your bulkhead make sure there is a cradle that is designed just like the EZ Loader trailer that's underneith your boat. You can get the specs mailed to you from Triumph for this process. Please feel free to call us at Boathouse if you need any further advise or help. (561) 844-4144. By the way, Cinn, and K-9 Reno, you advise is awesome. It's nice to see we are all helping one another. I hope I've helped!

Thanks!

I actually plan on putting the trailer on the bulkhead as well (can roll it down the beach at low tide and lift onto the bulkhead - one of the few benefits of having 13 foot tides in the PNW.

So the boat will be stored on trailer.
