Fuse Box upgrade

New Years project was to upgrade to a more protected and functional fuse box which also allowed more expansion for an additional future GPS/Sounder etc. This model, BLUE SEA Systems ST blade Fuse Block with 12 positons/ PN:5026, was purchased at West Marine for under $40, has a built in cover and a holder for a couple spare fuses. I used the existing mounting screws for the original fuse box to mount a cutting board which gave me a nice clean and solid foundation to mount the new box. Place a dab of liquid electrical tape on the exposed wires after crimping.[IMG][/IMG]

Looks real good Emery!
Looks like you have that job all suit cased, so you ready to come down and re-wire mine? We can sea trial it on a flats run for some Trout and Reds afterwards to just to make sure it passes the "Smoke Test" Brother

Well Dave, last time I did an extensive install inside that center console, I ended up with a pulled muscle in my back so bad had to get an MRI. So I better only do this every 2-3 years, haha. I did learn to stand up every 10 minutes or so and stretch, boat work is soooo physically demanding.

That looks really sweet. I will have to look into that. Espeacially since my fuse box is broken in half. Wonder how that happened. I like the cover, that should help keep out the elements.

on my 186 i put a 6 position distribution panel outside on the console. i wanted to be able to get to the fuses while underway and and also be able to switch off each circuit from the battery.
i got a bad back and have had realy scary experiences in rough weather at night trying to replace fuses down inside the console

here is a picture i couldnt figure how to load on previous response

the distribution panel is flush mounted into console just above the fire extinguisher. and none of the switches/fuses ever failed while i owned the boat. i even put the same panel on my 210cc inside the console storage box
