right prop

hi everyone i am a new owner of a 2002 190 bay powered by a 140 suzuki 4 stroke. i took it out today for the first time and noticed if i go full throttle the engine quickly redlines mabe up to 7000, i did not keep it up there to tell for sure. so there is quite a bit of throttle left when you run at 5500. of course it has been pouring down raining since i got home, and i do not know what prop is on it. i bought the boat from an orig. owner who bought the whole package from travis boating center. can someone advise what the ideal prop is for this boat. and thanks in advance for the help, i am sure i will have a lot of other questions to follow.
joe

Welcome aboard JP3. I have the exact set up and run a stainless steel 3 blade 14x20. I think rpms should be @6000 for the df 140. This allows a top end @40-45 depending if you have a t-top/bimini or no top, weight, etc.

Welcome JP3 Its a good group of guys. The factory manual list the maximum RPM on the 140 HP at 5600 to 6200. You are over-reving your engine @ 7000.
Figure on a 200 to 300 RPM drop per inch of pitch increase.
Johnson 4strokes are made by Suzuki and their props come in odd number pitches, Suzuki come in even numbers. They will fit either motor

JP3, One thing to check is the pole setting on your tach
if everything sounds and feels right . Consult your tachs guide or
check dealer/website if applicable. If needed ,change pole setting
by turning knob on back of the tach.
