Hi inspector,

I have the same model boat and I also have the same issue. I looked at the picture you posted & the deflections on my boat look very similiar to yours. I emailed some pictures of my hull to Joe at Triumph, but I have not had time to get back with him to discuss it. I will try to post a pic of my boat on this site if I can figure out how.

Benji

Upon looking at the pictures, the deflection on your hull seems more profound than on mine. Did it get worse over time, or has it been that way for awhile? Does the v-bunk help? I don't like seeing those deflections on the bottom of my hull, and I would like to remedy them if at all possible.

190 hull deflections

My hull has looked the same since i bought the boat new.I too have been in contact with joe at triumph. He sent a v-bunk that was mounted towards the front on my trailer. This v-bunk is supposed to relieve any presure on the deflected area of the hull and according to joe the deflection will straighten over time due to the memory in the plastic. Joe said it could take up to 2 months, but after 1 month i see no improvement.I am being told by the factory that this was a bunk problem but i am more prone to believe that it was a mold issue in the production process. I was told by joe that there are about 150 boats out there with this issue.

After reading all the posts on this, I'm inclined to agree that it appears that there is a defect associated with the hull on these particular boats.

But I would like to point out one observation. I went out this morning to look at my upper bunk placement in comparison to the pics you folks have been posting. I appears that btoups1122 and inspector2359 - your upper bunks are all the way up on the modified potion of the hull. The front of my upper bunks are down further on the lower hull.

This weekend I'll go out and measure the exact location of my bunks. When looking at my boat, if my upper bunks were placed where yours are, it appears that the lower bunks would be supporting all of the weight and, therefore, the hull would flex until the upper part of the lower hull rested on the upper bunks.

I'll also try to get pictures.

I took a look at your pictures. Those are ugly. I now understand the concern. I wouldn't call them deflections. The hulls look bent. Really hope it gets cleared up for you guys!

We got blasted with 16" of snow - so I didn't get to crawl around and measure my upper bunk location. But my upper bunks are a good 8" in from the edge where the hull flattens out on the lower portion. I'll try to get pics once the snow melts a little.

I finally had time to speak to Joe at Triumph. He looked at the pictures I sent him and said that the deflections on my hull are cosmetic and seem to occur on the hulls made at that time. I would like to see the trailer setup for those of you who don't have this issue on the 2002 hulls to see if I need to adjust anything.

I'm very satisfied with the quick response time that I have received from Joe at Triumph. He always answers my questions no later that the day after I email him, and most of the time he responds in a few minutes. Its good to know that we have someone willing and able to assists Triumph owners.

inspector,

Joe sent me an adobe acrobat file containing the proper bunk layout for the trailer. I can email it to you if you want. Looking at your pictures, the bunks on your trailer may not be as long as they should be.

hull deflections

Benji
Thanks for the offer on the trailer bunk specs but I already have the same specs you have that were sent to me by Joe B. at Triumph. The photo may look off but the the bunks are at proper length and spacing. I believe my hull deflections are a"mold process" problem experienced by the factory on some of the '02 model 190 Bay and I am afraid the trailer mods will not help my situation. I will be talking to Joe at Triumph to see where we go from here.

Pictures of upper bunk placement

Okay - So I've finally taken those pictures. Don't mind my ugly bottom paint :P

The upper bunks are 7"- to 8" in from the outer edge of the lower section of the hull.
