Not sure if there is an inner hull drain in that last pic? Not where mine is anyway. I have gotten about 5 gallons of water from my hull now over the past few weeks, drop by drop. Talk to Joe Behrman at Triumph warranty and he said if you ever get a "crack" in your hull, this is the first thing they will do, put a hole in the inner hull between the transom plugs and let her drain until dry. Mine is still draining.

How necessary is it to install these inner hull drains? Is this a repair that has been found to be absolutely needed at some point. I had my 191 DC for one season and haven't seen any signs noticeable to me of water in the foam. Then again I'm a newbie. What's the tell tale sign of that?

inner hull drains

Well I broke down and drilled an inner hull drain hole on my 190 Bay.
Hull is dry as a bone, got no water . I really suspected to find water , glad I didn't but at least now I have a good way to verify for water intrusion and drain if needed.

Remimber, Dick at Merritt Marine said the inner hull drains will be in a different place for the 191's than the Bay 190, might want to check with him in Tech Talk. He did say that over time....water will migrate there thru rod holders and "other" ways.
I had a crack in my hull and when I took it to the dealer this weekend, although I had gotten 5 gallons out the inner hull drain in the past 3 weeks and thought that was it, the crack began dripping. Is anyone getting water out of a non-cracked hull?

Yep, I did and do (though just drips) get water out of my inner hull drains. Had gotten (tons) of water out of my old 210 and some out of the 190 and neither one had / has hull cracks. To me it's no big deal, install the drains and move on with life  I just wonder why the factory don't just step up to the plate and install them on all the effect hulls, sure would save a lot greif all the way around...

Now I just posted a picture in the 190 gallery not log ago of how I had mine upgraded and it shows the positions of inner hull drains for the 190 Bay and the center bilge drain with all being the metal self retaining type.

Now I already lost 2 of the black plastic ones because a buddy of mine did not take them out all the way before going down the highway and they bounced out. So having the metal self retaining type sure is nice, faster, and one less thing to have to worry about on a busy ramp

Enjoy!
