What I would probably do is locate and drill new holes to mount the box with. I would also back the bolts on the inside of the box either with larger fender washers or an 1/8 to 1/4 inch aluminum plate about 2 in wide and the width of the interior of the box. But hey thats just cheapo me.

The good news is that I have yet to drill any holes, still in the measuring/planning stage. The problem is that due to the thickness of the box material, I do not have room for a fender washer on the inside if I thru bolt it straight down from the tubes. They are 1" too far apart.
Thanks anyway |

Yeah I agree, it should have been an easy thing to mount but like I said, the OD is fine but the ID is identical to my center line drilling position for the t-top tube thru bolts (one tube forward and one tube aft).

Well, I did it. Using the stainless brackets off those long ago removed velcro gunnal foam rod holders(Bay190), ss 10-24 x 1" bolts, ss fender washers and 4 ss worm clamps, I mounted the e-box in a removable way without drilling holes in the t-top tubing.
Maybe down the road I will mount it differently but for now, I'm glad to forget about it for a while! |
