Stern Rod Holders and Water Intrusion

Does anyone have a fix for sealing up the ends of the stern rod holders? I would like to put 'caps' on the bottom of each rod holder so that any water can be recovered so that is does not get into the boat.

My port-side rod holder is stuck into the foam but the other would freely allow water intrusion into the inner hull.

I have a 170. They do not come with holders, so I installed 2. I took the holders to the harware store before I installed them and figured out a series of 3 plastic inserts with a 1/4" hose hose barb in the center. It poorly threaded into the bottom of the rod holder and I then sealed it with Rule inside and out. I attached a hose on the end of the barb, calculated where it should come through the interior hull and drilled. I put another plastic fitting on the hose, pushed it back to the interior hull and Ruled that. Drains beatifully. It was a bit of effort digging out foam, but I am not worried about water in the hull. Didn't think to take pictures when I was doing it.

You're quite the engineer. I think I might go for putting drain plugs in the stringer before attempting this mod. But I'm still interested in a rod holder that can hold water rather than this one with the open bottom.
