Installation of Humminbird fish/GPS tips?

OK another question. Sorry I am just so happy with the boat I want to add stuff to it. I have just bought a Huminbird 767, I beleive, it is not in front of me. It has depth/sonar/GPS. I am looking for some installation tips. I will probably mount the screen on the console. I will not probably get any more electronics, I fish in the Intercoastal Waterway, with small trips offshore. I read where someone put the GPS antenna back by the rear light. Is that the best place? What about the transducor? Inside or outside? How is "fun" is running the wires? I looked all over this forum for tips.

Before I had a t-top, I used a nylon removable mount with the adjustable latch so you can lay the antenna down when needed. Clamped it to the top of the hand rail.

FYI, high power vhf broadcasting with antenna mounted low may be a potential health risk, something to do with your eyes I've heard.

Back by the light is where I mounted my GPS antenna. It works fine back there and I have never regretted mounting it there. I have a picture in my photo album if you want to go look. On the transducer, you will need to mount it on the transom. Shooting through plastic is a no-no. There are pictures in my gallery on the trim tab project that shows my transducers.
Luck and beers.

Ok. I started the install last night. I mounted the transducer and the GPS antenna like you have shown in your pics JR. Thanks! I have the unit mounted. I have the GPS wires run completely under the floor into the console. I have the tranducer wires run under the floor but I ran out of light before I could run them into the console. Man, what a chore for a first timer. I should just have to hook up the wires and find a good power sourch and I should be done. Thanks for the advise and pics on this site! What the best power source?

Power Source

If possible, run the power source so that you have an on/off switch. This is recommended for all electronics running in salt water as it keeps power away from the items when not in use. I read about this in one of the manuals. I think it helps prevent corrosion as well as protecting your electronics as most switches will be fused.

There should be a fuse block somewhere in your console. Usually there is an extra space or two for you to use. Pop in a 5 or 7.5 Amp fuse and attach to the corresponding spade terminal. On that same block is a row of terminals for ground. I did not wire my electronics into a switch because I remove them when I’m not using the boat. That is a whole lot of fun fishing those wires isn’t it? I also mounted a Humminbird on my bow. Running those wires through the conduit for the bow light is also a lot of fun---NOT--!

Thanks for the help guys. I finished it all last night. I ran the wires with the factory wire placement so everything looks real slick. Put my GPS antenna back by the light, dug the foam out and evrything is good. The one thing I knew better to do was unhook the battery. I have worked on enough cars to know this, but I blew a fuse. Replaced that and I am good to go. I will be testing everything out next week in the Keys

I wanted to post an update. I had some time to use it, everything works well. Thanks to you guys for the tips and pics that helped me do my own installation. It turned out looking very factory like. I think I spent as much time running the few wires as I did installing verything else. Running the wires is a pain in the rear!! I am still having a tough time figuring out how to work the GPS part of it. I need to spend more time in the manuel. I love having a depth finder now, since I fish a buch of "skiny" water. I found the one I have, Humminbird 767 for $415. shipped to my door. I used www.pricegrabber.com to find it. That website gets you the best prices on stuff without having to search alot. Hope this helps someone else.
