Question 190 Bay Q2

Getting ready to make a move on a triumph 190 bay. I heard some dealers try and sell
seconds ( boats marked with a q2) as new . Has anyone ever heard of the Q2 designation?
Any experience with dealers trying to pull a fast one?
Also how do you like the 190 bay?
i want the 2006 model.
Any info on how triumph or the dealers stand behind that "liftime waranty"
i have found very helpful info on thehulltruth.com site. not all positive.....lol

Thanks

Delawaredogfish, welcome to the site.

I would like to make some suggestions.

1. Use the “Search” tab at the top right. Makes finding specific information faster.
2. Read the posts on the 190 Forum.
3. Using the “Articles” tab at the top, read “Why our family bought a Triumph”.

Some of the questions in your posting appear to be from old information.

As you read, please remember that this is an “Owners” site. The manufacturer does NOT control it. I am sure, if you read enough, you will read good things and bad things. Sorry, but there is NO PERFECT BOAT. As owners, we use the site to learn more about our boats, share modifications and changes we have made to make our boats better, and share our boating experiences.

We wish you well on your search. It took us over two years of learning before we took the plunge, but some of us are just slower learners.

a q2 boat has a blemish or cosmetic problem that doesnt affect the performance of the boat ,but just doesnt make it a 1st quality vessel. they do not come with a lifetime warrenty. you need a good dealer to stand behind you in case you have a problem that they will work with you on getting it fixed at a reasonable charge.
my '01 210cc and i have seen a few others has a place where the deck didnt kiss off just in front of the megga. saved a bunch of money on the boat and havent had the first passenger notice it.

Guy’s thanks for the info.

Ospreyvic...you have one of the best posts on the net, great info/pics.

I guess my one question to all is did you buy your boat knowing about the hull problems and all the other issues or was it a learn as you go thing. I have to admit that if I didn't do all this research and found all the little issues and hull problem a 190 bay 2006 would be in my driveway by now because it looks like a great boat.
I understand that this is an owner’s site but everyone seems so positive even about the hull issue.
I also understand that there is NO PERFECT BOAT. I have owned/co owned a 12ft wood boat with a 5 hp evinrude, an 18 ft crestliner with a 40 hp merc, a 19 ft mercury marquis with an i/o mercruser and my current 1987 angler 20ft wa with a 175 merc. Each boat had some issues. The one major issue I never experienced was the hull.
Its a little scary.
I do like the plastic technology
Just a little worried about possible resale value due to posted issues.
Need help, throw me over the edge! lol
In my area i believe i have 4 dealers. 2 have good reputations. 1 lost the franchise, 1 is questionable.

Good luck boating to all this season!

Speaking ONLY for myself, we had read all the bad press anyone can find on Triumph boats. We had read about hull issues, water issues, etc.

A local boat rental place that does NOT sell Triumphs closed the deal. When they had to admit that the northerners (also called Yankees) that had never piloted a boat before, could not destroy their old rentals, after hitting every bridge, dock, and oyster bar in the county, it was all down hill from there.

As a person that remembers less and forgets more, and the parent of a teenager that has not had a boat before, I am forever thankful that we have a plastic boat in our garage.

As a side note, the water off Venice Fl was GREAT today. The only issue was that it seamed that everyone with a boat had the same idea – get out on the water.

My only problem is that our boat is not out on the water enough.

Many thanks for your kind words. Please keep in mind that I am just an old retiree trying to live out part of his dreams.

Make it simple. No all the leaking issues have not been solved. Nor has the Hull cracking. The Q2 as I understand it are Q1 Rejects, Major repairs, factory reworks, sold without hull warrante. At a great reduction in price to dealers. For Resale to the Public.

So how long did this boat of yours sit full of salt water and why didn't you check things out before you took possesion of the boat?

Most people spending that much money on a boat insist on a trial run (That's a test drive to you land lubbers) on the water with the dealer aboard before they accept the boat.

This sounds like a used boat that you bought or one that was storm damaged, you thought you were cutting a fat hog, got a low price and accepted the boat pretty much as is.

Or did you knowingly buy one that was "Without Warantee" Q2???

Now you are all over the internet whining and bad mouthing the boats

http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/t...ode=1#M1056390

And of course you get lots of support from that other knot head over there (*****) another sniveler imho.

It sounds like you are also to blame in this deal so heres a couple of suggestions...

First QUIT WHINING!. it makes you sound like a big crybaby.

Second if you really do have issues with the dealer and the manufacturer and they are not standing up to the precepts of the contract or warrentee then PLEASE go hire a lawer as that is where it will really get resolved not here on the internet.

Personaly I like my Triumph boat and I know that like all boats it's not perfect but I don't whine and cry about it.

And just for your information there is no such thing as the perfect boat or one that will not have things that go wrong and need fixed, even new ones.

Get rid of the boat and take up something like growing flowers or golf.

jan from humbolt and others

1 How long in salt water ACCORDING TO DEALER 0 ZERO
2 Told by reputable dealer boat was dirty but everything was checked out and OK
Was it a Major Mistake Trusting a Triumph dealer's word???
3 As staterd by Triumph dealer. It was NEW from a Closed dealership in. Normal
New Condition just Top side dirt.
4 At that time did not know or Imagine a Q2 boat
5 Why do you Defame some one who led this site. But now does not agree with you
Is he not entitled to his Opinion based on his past experiances with this product
6 QUIT WHINING Is a Simple statement of facts not to your liking being a cry baby
or is it the TRUTH you do NOT like being exposed
Instead of a long winded EXCUSE, first. Facts second, Type of post. I call it as they
are MY 186 2001 Is a great Boat Yes.
I have" 2 " logic /triumph products the better to compare them YOU???
The 186 has drained 3 1/2 gallons from my added drain hole in the last 2 days
Suprised YES, with only about 28 hrs on it.
Normal use it Takes on about 1 gal per hr. run time in bilge. Worried not in the least
the 1 gal, comes mainly from the stupid side drains no problem. Fix with fake golf balls.
7 And Yes this I have done. But does that Revele the Truth to others NO.
should they have to go thru what I have, especially if it is their only boat, and they
have kids?? I Think NOT.
8 Your right NO boat is ferfect from my 30 ft SICA to the 13 ft racer they all had problems
Cobia, Trojan, Winner, But never like this. It does STAND OUT.
9. Take up Golf no for a different breed. I enjoy Flying my 7th aircraft a Cessna 172 of
course in this. Their is no one to CRY to. You are PIC Pilot In Command its your
problem You Live or Die on your own abilities
If your boat was a Plane would you fly it ??? I would not . The Sica, Trojan, Cobia, I
would of Rockman
