this may be a silly question--how do you know if you have a inner hull water problem? I recently purchased a used 02 190 bay--no problems yet. When I lake tested it, I made sure we pulled the drain plugs before putting it in the water to drain any water out. I put the plugs in and ran the boat for about 45 minutes. When we pulled her out of the water, I took the plugs out and there was no water coming out of the drain holes. However--I just took her out today and noticed after taking the drain plugs out, a couple of quarts of water came out. I might be getting paranoid--I did wash the boat recently, but I had the drain plugs out to keep the water drained out????

I've recently installed the new stainless bilge plugs. Still get a couple quarts of water out after keeping boat in water overnight.
I did switch to the ball/cup side scuppers and think they work better than anything so far vs plugging up the holes completely. Still think most water enters indirectly....swimmers coming in.....rain/dew/wet areas harboring water till the boat is trailered/moved and directly from the scuppers thru the cracks in the deck and into the bilge. The way the bilge is situated, the pump sets up off the lowest portion thereby never removing all the water until we pull the plugs and get "a couple of quarts". Everyone needs an inner hull drain since the inner hull is not sealed off, water migrates past the foam and to the hull. I got a 5 gallon bucket full after letting it drip for a month tilted up on the trailer. Very easy to do, just buy a new bilge plug first (not the old brass type!) just like your others. You will want to pull this plug just like the other two. |

Hi- i am a potential new Triumph owner--- located in Brisbane, Australia. I have been doing a lot of research on the different "poly" boats available and have a water test in a 190 Bay on Monday. I joined the owners club and have looked at all the chats, reviews etc. One big concern---- i have read a lot about the water in the hull problem and that causes concern. I will be using my boat mainly in bays and light offshore that can get choppy very quickly (powering a 150 E-Tec for quick trips home) so the water in to the hull is a real worry--- has the supplier fixed this in newer models? what is the main cause (water draining in via the floor panels)? Anyone out there use the 190 Bay for light offshore----any comments appreciated.

Bullets, glad you found this web site, and hope many 190 Bay owners respond. May we please suggest using the search feature at the top of the page? We have a 210 CC, and installed a drain as specified in the postings before yours. We might get a few drops out after a full day on the water. Every boat, takes on water, from the largest aircraft carrier on down. This is not something to lose any sleep over. If all else fails, then remember that plastic floats on its own and fiberglass sinks (no floatation), much like steel or aluminum. A 190 Bay will not sink even without the additional foam in the hull (unless you put a dump truck on top of it).
Just my opinion. Glad you found this web site.
