Red face 190 bay engine hp

What is the best power behind a new 2006 190 bay.
I think i am leaning toward the df140 suzuki 4 stroke (410lbs). It weight is less than the 115 suzuki (427lbs)!
chain drive (suzuki) vs belt (yamaha).
Better gear ratio than a yamaha.
Not going for extra speed but the 140 will work less for the same hp + weight is less.
Suzuki performance notebook also tested a suzuki df90 on a 190 triumph bay and claimed that the boat did 36.4 @ 5500rpm 5.4 mpg
also that 90 was 416 lbs.

any suggestions?

thanks, Dogfish

That is what I chose to put on my boat for the same reasons you mention. It was an excellent choice and I don’t regret it at all. It is also smooth and quiet. It is however no speed demon, about 42 MPH is tops for the 190. Buy it and don’t look back.

Zuk df140. JD Powers #1 rated. I have had mine for 5 years and it is about as perfect as I could imagine. I took the cash vs the extended warranty and spent it on equipment. The 140 is lighter than the 115. Have you compared the 140 vs 150? Think the 150 and 175 are similar blocks.

The dealer is kinda pushing the 115 suzuki, but research says i should go with the 140 because its lighter more hp . Plus i have kids that will tube , board and ski. The next question is the price difference. Another dealer had a 190 outfitted with a 90 hp honda. Too small.
$$$ is the question

190 bay engine hp

delaware
i have a 02 190 bay w/ suz df140.
my good friend who is also a member here (coxg20) has the identical boat with the suz 4st 115. i have to tell you i dont see much of a difference after operating both boats. i can tell mine has slightly more power, but not as much as i expected. we have yet to run side by side. in preperation for that day, i just spent $300 plus on a new power tech prop to ensure we can take his 115 !! on a serious note both of us agree there is only a slight improvement in power. what is the price difference?

the price difference as told by a dealer was around $ 1000 more for the 140hp vs the 115.
I actually went with a 115 4 stroke yamaha! Better support in my area , lighter and great proven track record. Not to mention a discounted price due to a 05 left over.
jp3 .....What year boats do you guys own? any issues?

the way to go is the yammy 115 4 stroke, i have sold 7 of these bays, and that gives the best performance.

I have a 04 with a Yahama 150 4 stroke and its dial a power regardless of water conditions or weight in the boat. Great fuel economy and super quiet on top of it all.

Great setup!
