After my windshield survived IVAN I replaced the plastic bushings (some were broken others pulled out) with white tapered faucet washers between the shield and the console. Let the taper bush the shield holes.
Also used the SS wavey washers on the screw heads. No pbs so far.

I Resolved The Same Problem On My '01 186 Logic, By Drilling Through Holes
In Console And Installed Stainless Through Bolts, I Believe #10 With Fender Washers And Locking Nuts. Never Had A Problem Since. Back At It In South La., Fishing Is Great, House Sucks. |

Another option-thumb screws
I had to modify my windshield so I could park under my carport. I drilled out the existing holes with a 1/4 inch tap and purchased 4 threaded thumb screws for the size. This way I can remove the windshield whenever I need to park. I also removed the grab rail, but thats a different story (used bathroom hole plugs to fill)

Hey Guy,Those little screws for the windshield are crap!!!Go to the local hardware store,in the screw bins look for 1 1/2 screws with the crome washer ring fixed to the screw. They work great.
